Planned for God's Pleasure

We had another good study led by Pastor Tony. Jeannete's Pancit palabok was a hit.
God did not need to create you and I. He is perfect and does not need anyone or anything else. Yet he chose to create you for his own enjoyment. He was smiling when you were born. Just as parents feel pleasure when their child obeys them, God feels pleasure when we obey Him. Bringing pleasure to God is called "worship." However, we often use the term "worship" as if it is a one time event (ie, going to worship service, doing praise and worship). But the truth is - worship is a "lifestyle." Worship is far more than music and it is not for your benefit. It isn't for you, it's for God. It is not a part of your life; it is your life. You can bring pleasure to God in everything you do. The bible says, "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men."
Please keep Sol and I in your prayers as we travel to San Diego for a vacation. Next meeting will be at Pastor Tony's place in Moron, Spain. You may contact Ariel Genido at 659-441-148 or 956-82-4280 if you wish to attend.

The Reason for Everything

What is glory? The dictionary says it means a great honor and admiration won by doing something important or valuable. Do you know that it used to mean "boasting"? Like what a father feels when his child does something good. His child brings glory to him. We studied about the glory of God. In the old testament, God reveals His glory to Moses, the tabernacle, and in the temple. In the New Testament, He chose to reveal His glory through Jesus and the church. God's glory is best seen in Jesus. We too can bring glory to God by worshiping Him, loving other believers, becoming like Christ, serving others with our gifts, and by telling others about Him. Make your dad (God) proud! This is the reason for everything. In everything we do, do it for the glory of God and not of ourselves.

Life Is a Temporary Assignment

Life is only TAD/TDY as we call it in the military. Earth is not our home. This is the topic we discussed last Saturday as we were led by Raffi. Things of this earth are not eternal. Money, careers, positions in community, possesions, and wealth are only temporary. As Christians, we prepare for something better. We fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. Always remember that our citizenship is in heaven.

Seeing Life from God's View

We had a good discussion as Pastor Tony led us in our bible study. How do you describe your life? Is it a party? A race? Some of us answered that life is a surprise, life is good, life is temporary, life is a challenge, life is easing through retirement. But what matters most is seeing life from God's view. Next study will be led by Raffi.

Chapter 4

We accomplished a lot last Saturday. Chipped and painted the ceilings and walls, ate a lot of food:) We also had a good discussion regarding Chapter 4 of the Purpose Driven Life book by Rick Warren, facilitated by Rey Santos. We will discuss Chapter 5, "Seeing Life from God's View" this Saturday. Pastor Tony Nofuente from Moron AB will be leading us this time. Bring your Pinoy friend and enjoy the Pinoy culture with us.

Raffi's Baptism

Easter Sunday 2009. This is Raffi's baptism at Rota, Spain, 3 days after Pastor Gary Lee went home to be with the Lord. Pastor Gary led Raffi to Christ several weeks before this event and was planning to baptize Raffi himself. I'm sure he's rejoicing with us in heaven.
